Rick Anstey - Director and Founder – iQ Capital Management Pty Ltd

Rick has a career which spans 38 years, initially from the U.K, entering the emerging information technology and telecommunications industry in 1973, moving to Australia in 1976, establishing his own group of companies in 1983 and subsequently transitioning his activities into Venture Capital and investment banking roles to encourage and develop promising Australian Innovation.

For the past 26 years Rick has been building and managing his own companies in Australia. The first, being Tangent Group Pty Ltd, was established in 1983 and achieved a strong reputation for the development of software and for strategic management consulting within the banking and financial services sector. In parallel, Tangent's success allowed Rick to launch several subsidiary companies both here in Australia and overseas including being a co-founder in 1991 of the highly successful Strategic Publishing Group.

Tangent was acquired in 1994 by newly listed Australian Public Company; Techway Limited, and after a transition period, he moved to Queensland with his wife and family and joined Techway's board as a non-executive Director.

Since that time, Rick has worked closely with Federal, State and Local Government's in Australia to commercialise Australian Innovation and attract investment into Australia's technology sector with a specific target of Queensland.

In 1999, Rick spent a year with the Sydney-based investment bank, Grant Samuel & Associates establishing Grant Samuel Technology Capital, while also co-founding his own venture, inQbator, - a Queensland based investor in early-stage Australian Innovation ventures through Federal Government Funded $18 million Venture Funds.

inQbator, is Rick's main focus and it is now fully invested. Rick manages his time between the requirements of his portfolio companies, his various advisory board roles, community support and his public and private company Directorships.

Maintaining his Technology background, Rick's particular focus has been centred around ventures that underpin the Convergence of Technologies, Entertainment, Education, Mobility and Telecommunications.

Rick is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, and a member of the Australian Venture Capital Association. He is also a past member of the Queensland Government's Communication and Information Advisory Board, which advised the Government's Minister of Innovation and Information Economy.
